Voter turnout is encouraging thus far in Sky Valley’s municipal elections, with nearly 35 percent of the city’s voters accounted for in Advance Voting as of October 28.
Keep it up! We have two more full days of early voting — Thursday and Friday — and Election Day is Tuesday, November 4. If you received an absentee ballot, that must be at the Election Office in Clayton when the polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
If you’re still deciding who to vote for in the 2025 municipal elections in Sky Valley, please allow me to clarify some important points:
- No candidate has advocated depriving any of the city developers of their private property rights or ability to develop their land according to existing zoning. That is a fact.
- Candidates have voiced disapproval of the density of the “new urbanism village” proposed. That is an opinion.
- Some candidates have repeated that the Merrill Trust plan is a “conceptual plan” and not a “master plan.” That is semantics.
- Developer Harrison Merrill has said he’s willing to seek input from the community on his plans. That is on record.
Words matter. Your voice matters. The best way to make your voice count is through your vote.
You have just a few days left to vote. I hope you’ll vote for me as Mayor … for preserving Sky Valley’s heart and future.
For Sky Valley City Council, I’d be honored to serve alongside any of these new candidates (alphabetically listed): CareySue Beasley, Beth Pence, Jesse Price, and Jonathon Smith. If you have questions about their platforms, reach out to any of these candidates for answers. Or reach out to me, and I’m happy to connect you.
